The next stage of the tree mosaic: starting the drawing. This involved gridding the paper reference photo and then gridding the plywood base, scaling it up at a ratio of 1 to 3.4. Fortunately, my partner helped me with the calculations! It took a full hour just to complete the grid. I’ve started the actual drawing now; I’m struggling a little, but the grid is proving very helpful. I spent another hour just sketching out the beginnings of the tree trunks.
