In the space race between the US and the USSR, the USSR was ahead initially. The Sputnik moment. The US was the industrial giant at the time and eventually "won" the space race by landing on the Moon. In the AI race today between the US and China, China is the industrial giant. They have more than twice the energy input as the US. What if the Anthropic Mythos/Fable moment is the American Sputnik equivalent? What happens if China wins the AI race? The consequence could be a new ideological dominance as free markets and democracy will be seen as failures. This actually has severe investment implications.
Investing in the US energy gap might be the less risky option for the decade.
